Honoring a legacy of Community impact

GE Johnson Foundation was founded to carry forward the GE Johnson Construction Company and Johnson Family’s legacy of community and philanthropic impact. Founded in 1967 by Gil Johnson and later led and grown by Jim Johnson, GE Johnson Construction Company grew to become one of the premier construction firms in the Rocky Mountain and Central regions

To support the communities that GE Johnson Construction Company helped to build, through impact grants that align with the Foundation’s values and focus areas. 

What We Support

  • Programs and organizations that take an individual-centered approach to providing community support, with the goal of self-sufficiency
  • Unmet community needs that are barriers to individuals’ and families’ self-sufficiency, including mental health and substance use disorder
  • Programs and organizations that align with the philosophy of free enterprise

Making Impact

  • We make partnership investments, not transactional gifts. 
  • We fund pilot and proof-of-concept programs that lead to long-term sustainability. 
  • We love to convene and encourage collaboration. 
  • We invest in staffs and boards that demonstrate integrity, transparency and align with our values.   
  • We support organizations that are close to those they serve and for treat people with dignity and respect.

So we can maximize our impact, we are unlikely to fund:

  • Military charities or programs
  • Programs or organizations that focus solely on a single cultural or ethnic group 
  • Higher education 
  • Private or parochial schools 
  • Housing

Political issues or candidates 

General operations for faith-based organizations and houses of worship 

Criminal justice-related programs and organizations 

Programs or organizations that promote the use of psychoactive drugs

Ongoing annual operations 

National organizations with regional offices (we do consider funding regional office)
